Gianna

A Michigan Senior Portrait Session in Studio and in an Abandoned Building

When you have the opportunity to photograph in a place where you always wanted to, you seize the opportunity. I was able to convince Gianna to take some portraits in this old abandoned bank in Bear Lake, Michigan in addition to our time in the studio. I hauled my large format film camera in there and the fidelity and depth with which it renders the space and subject is almost surreal. Senior portraits are one of my favorite things to photograph. I find that teenagers, especially today's teens with endless accessibility to cameras, just fully embrace the editorial style with which I approach portraiture. Gone are the days of the cheesy, fake expression senior portraits of the past - the editorial and dramatic senior portrait is here to stay.
